About project

Since 2007 realization of the Youth Resource Centers of Tajikistan has started. The main objective of the project is to enhance the social-economic potential of youth in Tajikistan. Activities of the youth centers will focus on:

Realization of information technologies programs including computer literacy and access to Internet for youth under the age of 14-30 years old;
Development of vital skills such as leadership, healthy life style, creativity and learning of foreign languages;
Civil self-consciousness and youth participation in public life, through establishment of groups of local youth activists with the help of youth organizations and training of leaders, youth sound program and dissemination of information on youth.

The project consists of the following key components:

Establishing of multipurpose youth centers in three selected districts of the republic (Gissar, Dangara and Isfara)
Facilitate development of entrepreneurship and youth employment
Institutional development of the Youth, Sport and Tourism Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan

At the present time three pilot districts have been identified in order to found Youth Resource Centre with integrated services for the local youth in: Gissar (Jamoat Durbat), Dangara and Isfara (Jamoat Chorkuh). Facilities have been allocated under offices for the Youth Centers with the following area size: Gissar – 1500 m², Dangara – 790 m² and Isfara – 450 m². The project employees attracted international consultants and developed guidelines on realization of state youth policy, monitoring and impact. We regularly implement international and national bids on realization of the Project’s components.

Our partners are: Youth, Sport and Tourism Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the World Bank, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health. In the process of realization of project’s components we hope to acquire new partners among other organizations and companies.

The program of this study tour was conducted in frame of “Youth Empowerment and Security grant” in Syria, the representatives from Dagestan, the Ingush Republic, Kabardino-Balkaria of the Russian Federation, UNICEF office representatives from Caucasia and Tajikistan took part in this event

A World Bank implementation support mission visited Tajikistan from September 20 to 26, 2010 to review progress in the implementation of the Tajikistan Youth Social and Economic Opportunity Grant.

Monitoring and evaluation of the grant realization process

Ms. Sarah Michael, specialist from the social department of countries in transition, conflict of social development of African region of the World Bank, arrived between 15 and 20 of March 2010 in the framework of the realization of the “Grant for Creation of Socio-economic Opportunities for the Youth of Tajikistan”. The purpose of the mission is monitoring and evaluation of the realization of the grant and identifying perspectives in the given direction.
